Bruce D. Richards

Bruce Devereux Richards , born March 21, 1928 in Denver CO to Mary A. and L.D. Richards, passed away on April 19, 2012. His family moved to Houston in 1938, where he attended Cooley Elementary, Hamilton Junior High and Reagan High School. Bruce joined the United States Navy in 1948 and became an MR1. After his discharge from the Navy he attended University of Houston and received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He worked for Roy H. Cullen & McEnvoy Oil Field. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife of 47 years Wanda Jean Richards. He is survived by his brother Earl L. Richards & wife Dayle (Debbie) of Virginia Beach, VA; sister Themla Burriss of Fredricksburg, TX; son, Larry Rice & wife Rumisha of Spring TX; daughter Diane Watts & husband Gary of Mountainair, NM; grandsons Michael Rice of Georgia, Travis Watts & wife Danielle of Belen NM, granddaughters Traci Frazier & husband Ronnie of Albuquerque NM,and Lexis and Madison Rice of Spring TX;4 great grandchildren, 3 great -great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He enjoyed travel, sightseeing, fishing, woodworking, and had a dry sense of humor. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday April 22, 2012 at Heights Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. in Houston National Cemetery, Houston, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate in Bruce's memory to the charity of your choice.
