

Burniece was born on Friday, June 8, 1917, in Walker, Missouri and grew up in Nevada, Missouri. She married James Howard Jones on Sunday, April 9, 1939, and they ultimately moved to Tiptonville, Tennessee in 1949, where they owned and operated the local weekly newspaper. Burniece was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Tiptonville. She became a member of Terrace United Methodist Church and the Pilgrim Sunday School Class after moving to Houston to live with her daughter Nita in 2007. When she moved in Clarewood House in 2009, she faithfully attended church services there. Burniece was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Burniece was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Minnie Richardson, her only brother, Elmo, and by the one true love of her life, her husband Howard, who died 29 years ago this past November. She is survived by her three daughters, Ellie Abbott and husband Bill of Waxahachie, Texas, Nita Heard and husband Doug of Houston, Texas and Mary Ann Robinson and husband Jim of Bella Vista, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Howard Harris and wife Dianne of Santa Fe, Texas, Nathan Harris of Littleton, Colorado, Jodi Roney and husband Joel of Valley Center, California, and John Abbott and wife Kendra of Cedar Park, Texas. She is also survived by three great-grandsons, Marcos Nutt of Round Rock, Texas, Bryce and Logan Hassig of Valley Center, California.
Family and friends will gather for a memorial service in the chapel of Waltrip Funeral Directors, 1415 Campbell Road in Houston, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2014, where Reverend Catherine "Cathy" Meyenberg, will celebrate this wonderful woman's life.
