
Carl R. Koch, age 94, passed away Saturday, September 1, 2012 in The Woodlands, Texas. He was born March 2, 1918 in Wapakoneta, Ohio, the son of Fred Koch and Edith Roser Koch. He graduated from Blume High School in 1936 where he met Betty Jane Varner, his one and only girl-friend and wife of 67 years. He has now gone to join her once again.
They moved to Texas in 1950 and in 1953 he began a long career with Brink’s Armored Car Service. He retired from Brink’s in 1980 as Vice President of the Western Division in California. At that time he and Betty returned to Texas and moved to The Woodlands in 1984, where they were very active in the Ford 50’s Club, and owned several antique cars. Carl is survived by his daughters, Diane Pringle and Gwen Grimes. Grandchildren, Richard Grimes and wife Stacy and Christina O’Leary and husband Michael. Great-grandchildren: Dalton Basham; Reagan Basham; Taylor O’Leary; Garrett Grimes; and Lauren Grimes. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends. A small service will be held for the family and close friends at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 5, 2012. Interment will follow at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery.
