Carrie Jean Grays-Reese was born October 9, 1941 in Houston, Texas to Joe A. Grays Sr. & Lillie Mae Grays. Carrie confessed Christ as her personal savior and was baptized at an early age at Damascus Baptist Church. Carrie graduated from Phyllis Wheatley High School, attended Texas Southern University and received a bachelor's degree in Business Management from The University of Houston. During her career, Carrie managed and was an auditor for several Hotels throughout the country; Taught English to foreign speaking students; Provided Home Health Care and was affiliated with theater arts. In 1969 Carrie was united in matrimony to LeRoy Reese Sr. Although there were no children to this union, Carrie was a mother to all of her nieces and nephews. She also took care of her God-daughter Tajara Chevalier: and she was a stand in "Mom" to many. If you knew Carrie, you knew one thing, she never meet a stranger. She was a very kind and generous person and the words "NO, CAN'T and WON'T" were not found in her vocabulary. Showing "Loving Care" was one of the many attributes Carrie extended to her family and countless friends. Carrie leaves to cherish her loving memory, her brother Joe A. Grays Jr. (Jackie), sister Ollie Flanagan (Warren), God-daughter Tahirih Chevalier, a host of nieces and nephews, the many children for whom she was a "stand in Mom", her best friend for over 60 years Ida Shepherd and many, many family members and friends.
