Cashmer learned to be a licensed plumber with his Uncle Mack and joined the local union #68. He worked at Gulf State Plumbing until his retirement at the age of 65. Cashmer met the love of his life, Kathaleen Alexander, and they married in 1994. He was a loving father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and loved attending family get-togethers.
In his personal life, Cashmer enjoyed playing cards and dominoes on the weekends, rooting for Texas A&M, watching the Astros, and going to games. He loved to travel, surfed in Freeport back in the day, and occasionally took trips to the casino. Cashmer was always ready to lend a hand to friends and family in need.
He was a loving husband and father, known for having the biggest heart. Cashmer loved his wife, Kathaleen, very much and always had a great joke to tell, bringing laughter to those around him. He was generous and could always be counted on.
