Charlie was born on October 12, 1952, in Houston, TX to his parents Edmund Joseph Nowak and Gertrude Francis Nowak (Pryzborski). He graduated from Cy-Fair High School in 1972 and worked in various industries before finding his “home” in oil & gas. He retired from Daniel Industries in 2014 after 28 years of service. He married his wife Kathleen “KD” on December 30, 1984, in Houston, TX.
Charlie was an avid outdoorsman. When he wasn’t hunting, he could typically be found casting a line alongside his fishing partner for life, KD. At home, Charlie loved to tinker in the garage and around the house. In quieter moments, he would sit with KD on their back porch, which offered a perfect view of the yard he took so much pride in.
Charlie was the kind of person who never met a stranger and as a result lived a life filled with friendship and love. Family meant everything to him, and he absolutely loved being a father and grandfather.
Charlie was preceded in death by his father Edmund Nowak, mother Gertrude Nowak, and nephew Shannon Nowak. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Kathleen “KD” Reed Nowak; sons Charles Matthew Nowak II and his wife Tiffany, Clinton Michael Nowak and wife Crystal, and daughter Jennifer Marie Hubbard and her husband Joshua; 8 grandchildren: Grandsons – Dylan Nowak, Landen Nowak, Coleton Nowak and Xander Rodriguez; Granddaughters - Aelynn Phipps and her husband Trey, Taylor Dingess, Kayla Dingess, and Hayden Dingess; brother - Ed Nowak; sisters - Cathy Morris and Patty Parker and husband Mitchell.
A Celebration of Life service for Charlie will be held Thursday, September 19, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Waltrip Funeral Directors, 1415 Campbell Road, Houston, Texas 77055. In addition to Thursday’s service, a Celebration of Life will be held next month on Charlie’s birthday. More details will be shared with family and friends at a later date.
