

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Charles David Montemayor, who died peacefully in Pasadena, Texas, on June 26, 2025 at the age of 73. Charles was surrounded by his loving wife Bertha, all five of his children, and several of his grandchildren. Charles was a loving, charismatic husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Born on November 29, 1951, in Brownsville, Texas, Charles was the son of Gilberto and Esperia Montemayor. He was preceded in death by his parents Gilberto and Esperia, and his sister Linda. His surviving siblings Norma, Gilberto Jr. (Rosalinda), Valentine (Melba), and Victor (Patricia).
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Bertha Montemayor, his children Patricia Montemayor Gonzales, Charles Jr. Montemayor (Anita), Daniel Montemayor (Stacey), Trinidad Magana (Jennifer), and Michael Montemayor (Denise), as well as his cherished grandchildren: Christina (Jonathan T.), Ariel (Jacob), Marissa (Colin), Elizabeth (Christopher), Jonathan G. (Lucia), Lorelei, Cassandra (Tyler), Daniel Jr. (Jose), Isaac (Arianna), Michael Jr. (Chrissy), Olivia, Julie (Brenda), Dominic, Thomas, Adelina, Xavier, Noah, and Jonah – along with great-grandchildren: Trinity, Cambrey, Madison, Zaiden, Axton, Nathan, Maddix, Calvin, Rennix, and Cairo.
Charles leaves behind a lasting legacy. As a devoted father, he coached his sons sports teams including baseball with South Houston Little League and little league football with the South Houston Wildcats, instilling a love for the game and the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship. His commitment extended to his grandkids, where he was a constant presence at games and performances. His proud shouts of encouragement echoing from the sidelines. Beyond his dedication to sports, he filled our lives with joy through his love of music. Charles was the bass guitar player in his band, Modelo. He was constantly singing, dancing, and composing songs for his loved ones. His infectious laughter and playful spirit made every moment spent with him a treasure. Charles was a man who loved his community, as he served as a crossing guard for South Houston Elementary. The name Montemayor now carries an even greater weight of love, laughter, and unwavering support. His spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and his legacy will continue to inspire future generations.
