Clara Trevino Gutierrez passed way peacefully on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. Born on January 27, 1927 in Houston, Texas, she was an eighth generation Texan descended from the original land grantees of the Concepcion de Carricitos Spanish Land Gant of 1789 in the lower Rio Grande valley of Texas. She celebrated her 92nd birthday this past January with family and friends.
Clara is predeceased by her husband of 67 years, John Gutierrez. She leaves behind to cherish her many beautiful memories daughters, Hilda Gutierrez, Maria Elena Villalovas and husband Ray. She was known as "Mamita" to her grandson Reggie and his wife DeAnna, and to her great grandchildren Reggie and Zoe, as well as to her dear Mari Perez, and beloved little Yorkie, Harley.
She and her husband, John, enjoyed many happy years traveling through the United States, Mexico, Canada and Europe with family and friends. She had a passion for decorating and gardening, and enjoyed her beautiful flowers. She also enjoyed shopping and did all right to the end.
She was a kind and gentle soul, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and caring friend. She always saw the good in everyone she met, and touched the lives of all she encountered.
Clara and her husband, John, enjoyed opening their home to friends from the wealthy to the less fortunate. They endeavored to find the beauty in all people, and a blessing in every situation. Clara's devout faith and spiritual identity were the pillars of her existence.
A visitation for Clara will be held Friday, July 26, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023. A rosary service will be recited from 7:00 PM to 7:30 PM. A funeral service will occur Saturday, July 27, 2019 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Grand Chapel. A graveside service will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Luis Angel Garcia, David Ybarra, Gerard Gabel, Chris Gabel, Robert Salinas and Gilberto Carcini .
