Colleen Marie Bradshaw Lyon, born August 28, 1961, in Houston, Texas, to Richard A. Bradshaw and Patricia A. Julian; she departed this life on February 5, 2012. Such zest for life one rarely meets; Colleen possessed tenfold a normal measure. She lit up the darkness with her laugh. She was determined to learn Spanish. She loved flowers, books, writing songs and singing, and clothes. She never missed a birthday and simple acts of kindness fed the minutes of her hours. Unless, of course, it was a day of battle, as was often the case, when Will and Disease met up and ruled the hours, days, nights, weeks, months...years. Our dear Colleen, may she rest in peace. In death might she have triumphed, finally, in the wars that raged within. May the spirits of her family who have gone before her—including her mother, Patti, step-father David L. Tittle, and sister Julie A. Bradshaw—open their arms to greet her, with a joyful smile, knowing there will be no more suffering in their forever time together. Her family would like to thank the many friends of Bill W. who reached out to Colleen over the years.
Please help her father, Richard A. Bradshaw; sister, Katie Bradshaw and husband Matt McCracken; aunt and uncle, John and Karen Bradshaw; nieces and nephews, Jes Bradshaw, Conor McCracken, Josh, Chris and Zach Phillips, and cousins, John Bradshaw, Jr., Brenda Isaacs Booth, Brad Isaacs and Ariel Bradshaw--celebrate Colleen’s life in a memorial service at Heights Funeral Home on Saturday night, February 18, at 6:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Salvation Army, Star of Hope Mission, or Alcoholics Anonymous would be most welcomed.
The Serenity Prayer
God grant me the Serenity
to accept the things
I cannot change,
Courage to change
the things I can,
and Wisdom
to know the difference.
