Corby was born on May 4, 1968 in Washington,D.C. to Erv and Judy Leschber. On his first visit to Texas, his dad baptized him a True Texan by rubbing Texas dirt on his head–a moment that foreshadowed Corby’s deep and lasting connection to the Lone Star State.
Corby grew up in Spring, Texas in the Terra Nova subdivision with his sister, Shana, his brother, Chris and a host of neighborhood kids that became lifelong friends. Corby spent his early years swimming, participating in Indian Guides, and exploring with a boundless curiosity and adventurous spirit. He graduated from Klein High School and went on to earn a degree in advertising from Texas Tech University. He then pursued a career in sales, working for various companies where he formed lasting relationships with coworkers and clients alike.
Corby was a devoted and loving father to his two daughters, Faith McCool and Remmington Elise. He poured his heart into their upbringing–celebrating every milestone, offering guidance and humor, and cheering them on in all aspects of life.
Corby had a singular way of looking at the world. His sharp wit, observational humor, and clever one liners made him a joy to be around. He could find laughter in the everyday and shared that gift freely with family and friends.
In later years, Corby created “Lulingbach", a three day annual gathering at the family ranch in Luling, Texas. More than just a party, Lulingbach became a beloved tradition–filled with music, storytelling, food, and deep connection. It was a testament to Corby’s passion for bringing people together and celebrating life.
A lover of music and an artist, Corby created unique works from found and natural objects– acorns, cigar bands, pine straw–infusing meaning into the overlooked. His art, often made as gifts for those he loved, now serves as treasured mementos of his creativity and generous spirit.
Corby is preceded in death by his father, Ervin Wayne Leschber, his grandparents Irma and J.W. Whitener and Oscar and Lena Leschber, aunt and uncle Lou Ann and Franklin Lamb, and his aunt Jan Whitener.
He is survived by his mother, Judy Leschber, his beloved daughters Faith McCool and Remmington Elise, his sister Shana, his brother Chris and wife Martha; two nieces Marin Hansen (and fiance Matt Dempsey) and Emily Leschber; and his nephew Dane Hansen.
Corby also leaves behind a wide circle of friends including Craig Senglin, Brett Turner, Jeff Nelson, and David and V. Jenkins, all of whom will carry his memory with them.
A celebration of Corby's life will be held on Monday, June 9 at 11:00 AM at Forest Park Lawndale Chapel of Angels in Houston, Texas. Doors will open at 10:00 AM for those wishing to arrive early. Following the interment of ashes, a reception will be held at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a scholarship being established in honor of Corby’s daughters, Faith and Remmie.
