Dr. Corey Sheldon Woods

As this story continued I would spend a lot of time with my grandmother and the rest of my family. I attended St. John Baptist Church.

I had a true love for learning and a zest for education, receiving my education in Houston, Texas, graduating from Reagan High School then moving on to further my education at Prairie View A&M University receiving a Bachelors of Science Degree in Biology. I always strived for higher learning and continued my education at Kansas State University receiving both a Masters Degree and a PHD in Science Curriculum and Instruction all the age of 26 years old. (A rare and awesome accomplishment in itself) Science was my love! Look out here comes Dr. Corey Sheldon Woods!

I am a member of the Divine Nine: Alpha Phi Alpha (The Best of the Nine).

In 1991, I relocated to Illinois to start my experience as an Assistant Professor at DePaul University, where I would remain until June 2003 in the college of education, I would then further my experience as an Assistant Professor at Northern Illinois University also in the college of education where I would remain until my retirement on May 1st, 2024.

I loved mentoring and teaching today's and tomorrow's educators and would do so for 33 years. History was also one of my passions.

In 2018 my book called "Science In the Classroom" would be published and be used in many educators!

I enjoyed traveling and have been to many places including Africa (Kenya) where I was very interested in building a school in remembrance of my late mother Evelyn Woods. My travels have taken me to the Canada, The Caribbean, China, Cuba, Greece, Hawaii, Jamaica, Turkey and many places in the United States, I never missed an opportunity to travel. Try it if you haven't believe me you will love it!

Another one of my many loves was music, fine dining, and cooking I loved trying new recipes.

I was preceded in death by his mother Evelyn F. Woods my brother Christopher L. Dupree I'll leaves to celebrate my life's accomplishments my Aunts Isabella Bailey, Carolyn Scott Carter, Alice Scott McLean, Uncles Theodore Scott, John Henry Scott, James Joseph Scott, NIeces Angel Woodard, Khristina Dupree, Ariel Dupree, Adriana Dupree, my extended family also includes A-Yvette Green, Jamarion Green, Dallas Creighton, Nell Cobb and Marla Brookman.
