

Dan was known by those around him as a strong leader. He spent his career in Management, working for JCPenney. After retiring from his various management roles, he worked part time as an employment specialist at Northwest Assistance Ministries. Dan served his country faithfully and earned the rank of Staff Sergeant in the United States Army. He was a member of the 32nd Army Air and Missile Defense Command unit, stationed in Europe during the Vietnam conflict. He also served as a Member of the Del Rio, Texas Lions Club.
Some of Dan’s favorite hobbies included attending sporting events, playing poker and spending time with his family and friends. He loved traveling with his wife. His favorite places to visit were Germany and Mexico.
Dan loved to take care of his family. He had an unparalleled work ethic and taught his children the importance of living life to the fullest. He took joy in watching his kids and grandkids play sports and partake in the arts. He loved helping people solve problems and made many friends in every community that he lived in. He was such a giver and had a servant's heart.

Daniel Garza is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Erika Garza, whom he met stationed in Germany during his time in the Army. He is also survived by his daughter Carmen Garza; sons Danny Garza and wife Angela Garza, and Erik Garza; grandchildren Sean Anthony Ramirez, Julia Elyse Garza, Gabrielle Heidi Garza and Benjamin Baron Hammer Garza; sister Elizabeth Gonzalez and her husband Ruben.
Daniel Garza is preceded in death by his parents, sister Esther Garza and brother David Garza.
