

A Life Well Lived Darlene Elizabeth Alleyne Ross On October 29, 1958 a beautiful daughter was born to Luther Martin Alleyne and Margaretta Asenthia Boyce Alleyne in the Stuyvesant Heights area of in Brooklyn, New York whom they named Darlene Elizabeth. Darlene received her formal education from the local elementary and middle school. She graduated from Abraham Lincoln High and attended Brooklyn College. She worked in the banking field at Chase Manhattan bank in New York City until she married Eric C. Ross on May 31st, 1986 and moved to Houston, Texas where they lived happily for 31 years. Darlene changed careers and found employment in the natural gas industry. She worked for Kinder Morgan as a gas analyst. Traveling, bowling, gardening, and of course shopping were some of the things Darlene enjoyed doing and would do whenever the opportunities were there. She was a true friend to whomever she called friend. She was a lover of family and embraced family whether connected by blood or not. And though she and Eric did not have any children of their own she was a 2nd mother, aunt extraordinaire, cousin supreme and all around go to person for all the children of family, friends and the neighborhood. Darlene accepted Christ at an early age but was baptized here in Houston, Texas. She was a devoted wife to Eric and they were like two peas in a pod. You would rarely see one without the other and to see them together was to see true love. Love, laughter, togetherness, warmth, kindness, joy, happiness are all words that describe being around Darlene. Darlene made her transition on Thursday, November 9, 2017 with Eric by her bedside. She is preceded in death by her mother Margaretta and her father Luther Alleyne, brother Michael Alleyne and nephew Sean Alleyne. She leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her memory her husband Eric C. Ross and sister Patricia Alleyne; nephews Kyle and Ian Alleyne, nieces Ebonie Jackson and Keturah Alleyne; sister-in-law Bridgette Ross Whiteing (Herman); and so many other family members and friends who were all important to her and dear to her heart.
