Duke was a very loving gentleman. His wife described him as a man who exudes kindness, compassion and generosity. He enjoyed spending his time doing mission work and working as leader with the boy scouts of America. Duke also enjoyed his career at Exxon Pipeline where he retired in 1988.
Duke is preceded in death by his parents Walter and Louise Walker, three sisters, and one brother.
He leaves to cherish his memories, loving wife of thirty nine years, Virginia Walker, one step daughter, Deborah (Rodger) Cutler, two grandchildren, Cassandra Grueser and Christopher Grueser, three nephews, Dale (Nancy) Whittington, Gary (Lorraine) Whittington, Richard (Janice) West, and one niece, Sue (Dan) Pettingale. Duke is also survived by numerous great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
The funeral service for Duke will be held at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 5501 Main Street, Houston, Texas 77004 on Friday, October 13, 2017 at 2pm. There will be a reception hour beginning at 1pm at St. Paul’s Methodist Church prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
