

The Hebraic meaning of De’Jon is “God is gracious and Graced by Yahweh.” The name De’Jon roots is derived from the variation of the name John in African heritage. The name De’Jon is embraced not only for its meaning but also for its distinctive sound and uniqueness. De’Jon Kornael Tate graced this world with his presence on January 21, 2007, at Memorial Herman Hospital in Sugarland, Texas to the proud parents of Kristalyn Charmaine Clay and Elton Arsenio-Devon Tate. De’Jon is the only child of Elton Tate, who bestowed him with the name De’Jon in honor of his favorite uncle, John F. Collins. De’Jon is Kristalyn Clay’s oldest child of four children (Chase Bailey, Caleb Bailey and Aneriya Bailey). Dejon was also a kindred spirit of two siblings (Sariah Bailey and Darin Bailey, Jr.), from another mother/stepfather, Darin
Bailey; as well as, an adopted soul-to-soul brother, Lazarus Jackson, aka “Evil Twin”. De’Jon was best known by many as “Dae” because of his charismatic, charming, and mischievous nature. But amongst family, he was called by terms of endearment: “Pooh Pooh,” “DeDe,” and “Toot Toot.”
De’Jon Kornael Tate was truly an enigma: an adventurer, a visionary, a scholar, an artist, a lyricist, an athlete (football, basketball, track, skater, & gamer), promotional motivator, and an inspiration to all he touched. More importantly, he was a friend to the friendless and was known by his clever sayings, such as “I got you!”, “I’m spoiled”, “Boom”, “I need the money, the biscuits and honey-the chicken”, “I’m gonna make ‘em know me!” and “Fade ‘em.” De’Jon’s formal education began at Hunter’s Glen Elementary, Missouri City, Texas where he completed pre-kindergarten - 1st grade, Alexander Elementary, Alief, Texas
2nd - 4th grade, Lexington Creek Elementary, Missouri City, Texas 5th Grade, Stafford Middle/High School grades 6th - 9th; Stephen F. Austin High School, Sugarland grades 10th - 11th, and Hightower High School, Missouri City, from 11th and currently in the 12th grade; where he was scheduled to graduate June 2025. De’Jon had aspirations to attend Texas Southern University to achieve a BS in Business Administration and Real Estate Law.
De’Jon Kornael Tate was raised in a loving Christian home environment. He was an active and dedicated member of Christ Temple The Peoples Church of God In Christ under the leadership of The Right Reverend, Bishop Destry C. Bell, Sr. and Lady Reatha Bell. De’Jon committed his life to Christ through water baptism on August 7, 2016. De’Jon was an active member of the following youth ministries: Youth Greeters and Youth Mentorship. De’Jon shared his love for Christ through volunteer work and charitable giving. Some of the places he served was Creative Dreams as a summer youth attendant, AccessHealth
annual back to school health fair and food drives, Houston Food Bank and YWCA, Missouri City, Texas.
This world of sin, sorrow, and death; no condition in life is protected against the immutable decree of God, “unto dust thou shalt return.” On the eve of April 28, 2025, De’Jon Kornael Tate was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at the age of 18 years. De’Jon is preceded in death by his brother, Chase Bailey; Great Grandparents: Alton Clay, Lee Anna Taylor-Garrett, Earl Garrett, Lloyd Carmouche, and Supt. Leslie Collins, Sr.; and Great Uncles, Mose Willis and John F. Collins. De’Jon leaves to cherish memories of his life: Mother, Kristalyn Clay; Father, Elton Tate; Stepfather, Darin Bailey; Brothers/Sisters, Caleb Bailey, Aneriya Bailey, Sariah Bailey and Darin Bailey, Jr.; Grandparents: Nedra Clay (maternal), Craig Willis (maternal), Shirley & Brian Clark (paternal); Great grandparents: Sandra Carmouche (maternal), Shirley Hubbard (paternal), Patricia & Paul Clark (paternal); Aunts: Brittany Adams, Ashley Gibson; Uncles: Rashard Clay, Calvin Taylor, and Kevin Gibson, Jr.; Great Uncles: Adrian Taylor, Troy Clay, and Leslie Collins, Jr., Brad Clark and Bruce Clark; Cousins: Lyric Edwards, A’Niya Taylor, Cali Taylor, Riley Clay, Righteous Clay and a host of other family and friends.
