Della Stevens Masson, 93, of Spring, Texas, passed away on February 28, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. Beloved, compassionate, hard-working, generous, faithful, kind-hearted, wise, and selfless, Della will be remembered for the steady strength and quiet grace with which she cared for others throughout her life.
Born November 4, 1932, Della overcame a difficult early life and attended high school in Cameron, Louisiana. Those early years helped shape the resilient and capable woman her family came to rely on and cherish.
Della was a full-time mother and caretaker, a role she embraced with devotion and purpose. Her life’s work was found in the daily acts of love that held her family together and in the countless ways she put others first.
Della was married to Charles “Chuck” Masson for 54 years. She loved cooking for her family, and family get-togethers always included food and games—participation was mandatory. She was the proud grandmother of 12 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.
Della enjoyed reading, often finishing upwards of two books a week. She also loved gardening and was said to be able to make anything grow—an enduring reflection of the care and patience she brought to everything she touched.
She was involved with the Interfaith Community Center and was always willing to help anyone in need. A very hands-on woman, Della lived her faith through service, generosity, and practical kindness.
Della’s kind heart and willing soul will be deeply missed. Her family is her legacy, and her influence will continue through the lives she nurtured and the love she gave so freely.
Della was preceded in death by her daughter, Gail Forrest . She is survived by her daughter, Shannon Shaw (Jerald Shaw); and her sons, Kerry Masson (Janel Masson), Rick Masson (Bev Masson), and Ed Masson (Patty Masson); and son-in-law, Craig Forrest.
