

Diann C. Washington, 73, passed away on April 10,2026 in Seabrook, Texas. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose absence will be profoundly felt by those who loved her. Diann was born on July 7, 1952, in Houston, Texas, to Rufus and Rosie (Revader) Clarence. She was raised with seven siblings, including five sisters and two brothers.
Early Life and Education
As a young adolescent, Diann was baptized at South Park Baptist Church in Houston, TX. She graduated from San Jacinto High School in 1970. Shortly after finishing high school, Diann married John Donald Washington on June 23, 1975. Together, they raised four wonderful children: Andre’ (1968), Kevin (1971), Cedric (1981), and Andrea (1985). Diann was affectionately known as “Dino” to her family and friends, and she treasured every moment spent
with them.
Career Life
From a very young age, Diann demonstrated unwavering determination and a deep sense of responsibility by entering the workforce to help support her family. Her first job was at Foley’s,
where she worked to ensure her younger siblings had the clothing and essentials they needed. Diann’s generosity and commitment to her loved ones was evident in every action she took, always placing their well-being before her own. She later became employed at Stanley’s Appliance Store and held just about every position from an accounting bookkeeper, credit manager, service manager and excelled to becoming the assistant sales manger. She loved her
job and work at Stanley’s for well over 15 years. In the final chapter of her career, Diann joined the Houston Independent School District (HISD), where she continued to serve her community with the same passion and diligence that defined her throughout her life. Her work at HISD allowed her to make a lasting impact on countless students, families, and coworkers. Diann retired from HISD in 2017. Her journey through each role was not just about providing for her
family, but also about touching lives and showing kindness wherever she went.
Family and Interests
Diann was a passionate supporter of her hometown sports teams, especially the Houston Rockets, Astros, and Texans. She delighted in attending games and watching sporting events, always eager to celebrate with her loved ones. She valued family gatherings and cherished making happy memories. Though she sometimes needed extra time to get a joke, her vibrant personality was always on display. Diann loved soulful old-school music, and her infectious
laughter brightened any room as she shared stories and connected with others. If there was a party happening, you could count on her being the first to get on the dance floor and the last one
to leave. Her warmth, wit, and unmistakable flair made every moment with Diann unforgettable and always just a little more hilarious.
Faith and Service
Above all, Diann was a strong woman of faith and a dedicated servant of God. She served as Treasurer and was a member of the Board of Trustees at Fields of Harvest Church lead by Pastor
David and Martha Cochran. Diann often facilitated children’s Sunday school classes and was a source of encouragement to all. She joyfully shared the gospel with everyone she encountered,
and inspired others with her unwavering devotion and kindness.
Love Conquers All
Despite her battle with dementia, Diann's loving spirit remained unchanged. Even as the disease progressed, she never forgot the voices or names of those around her. Her love for her family was enduring and unbreakable.
Surviving Family and Loved Ones
Diann is survived by her children: Andre’ Donad Washington, Kevin Donad Washington, Cedric O’Neal Washington (Jasmine), and Andrea Diann Osorto (Javier); her sisters: Joyce Marie Session (Mitchell Sr.), Rebecca Johnson (James - deceased), and Brenda Renee Clarence; her brother: Ricky Lee Clarence (Evelyn); 10 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus and Rosie Clarence; her husband John D. Washington, her sisters Patricia Ann Fletcher & Olivia Deborah Roberts (Willie Joe), and her brother Herman Lewis Clarence
