Born in Mazapil, Zacatecas, Mexico, on August 8, 1932.
He immigrated to the US in 1960, alone, seeking a better life for himself and his new and growing family. He settled in Houston, Texas, later bringing his family, where he continued honing his trade of furniture refinishing. After a few years, he started his own business in his garage, the Rodriguez Refinishing Shop. His meticulous craftsmanship and hard work fueled its growth and business, and he became the go to name in furniture refinishing in Houston and across the state. The family-owned business was a staple in the Brook Smithe area near the Houston Heights.
Domingo was a quiet man who was known for his hard work, attention to detail, and love of family. He was a smooth dancer, loved to fish, and enjoyed watching boxing. He was a proud immigrant, who naturalized as a US citizen. He was always returning to his home country of Mexico to visit family and attend various family events. He was always generous in helping others, especially others in Mexico and immigrants settling in the US.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Anselma, sons Jorge, Raul, Pedro, Rodolfo, Roberto, and Oscar, daughters in law Mary Lou (Lulu), Laura, Patricia, Heather, and Kim, grandchildren Rene, Michael, Jessica, Eric, Veronica, Joseph, Elizabeth, Jackson, Emmanuel, and Cristina, and great grandchildren Alivia and Amelia.
