After a fulfilling life dedicated to his family and God, Joe Chambers, age 84, passed away December 27th, 2022 in his home in Spring, Texas. At a young age, he met the love of his life Barbara, and together raised their three beautiful daughters. Joe worked two and three jobs at a time to provide for his family.
He was a loving husband to his wife Barbara for 66 years, devoted daddy to his three daughters, and one-of-a kind papa to 9 grandkids, 12 great grandkids, and 1 great-great grandkid. He was devoted to his family and many other things in life, including teaching 2nd grade Sunday School for over 40 years at Memorial Baptist Church where he was a member for almost 70 years. Joe enjoyed having his family over for get togethers, and was so welcoming to everyone. Joe never had a bad word to say about anyone, and was so very kind and warm hearted.
Joe was an avid sports fan, and loved watching his grandsons play baseball. He traveled with his wife to watch them play over many years. He spoke of it often and had awesome memories. He also LOVED his Astros, and was looking forward to another World Series next year. Although the Texans have not had winning seasons, he never missed a game. Some of his fondest memories were about the Houston Oilers football and all the many family gatherings that included watching together.
Joe also loved the family vacations to Lake Buchanan every summer in which all of the family would gather for some fun in the sun!
Joe is preceded in death by his very special daughter Melanie, his grandson Jake, and many other loved ones.
He is survived by his beautiful wife Barbara, daughters Melinda Fitzhenry and husband Gene, Melissa “Missy” Herman, and husband Mark. He has 9 grandkids, Seth Shumate, Sean Shumate, Candy Edwards, Crystal Rutledge, Meagan Rubio, Mandi Moon, Cameron Fitzhenry, Dylan Herman, and Maci Etie. He also has 12 great grandkids, and one great great grandkid. Papa loved each one of them dearly. He is also survived by many other family members and friends.
Papa was a good and faithful servant and we are at peace knowing that he is walking around Heaven with his loved ones with no pain at all. Job well done Papa! We are going to miss you so much, and holidays will be missing the heart of the Chambers Clan. We will take care of Nana and ensure she stays strong. We were all blessed to be a part of your amazing life! Thank you for being the best role model to all of us. We are all better because of you!
A visitation is scheduled at 11am and a celebration of life ceremony will start at 12 noon at Earthman Resthaven on Saturday, December 31st with a graveside service to immediately follow at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.earthmanresthavenfuneralhome.com for the Chambers family.
