Doris "DJ" Jane Davis passed away on June 21, 2021. She was born June 26, 1959 in Houston, Texas to the late Lee Roy Ellis and late Dora Jean Graves two years after her late older brother David Lee Ellis. She is survived by her husband Gary Davis; sons, Christopher and Jacob Davis; aunts; uncles; and many cousins.
DJ had an early start to adulthood with being on her own since age 13 when her parents divorced. She began working in the fast food and retail fields until moving to Groves, Texas to find a passion for banking. After several years and the birth of her kids she chose to dedicate herself to her children and home until her sons started school. She then worked in childcare for a couple of years before becoming a nurse and EMT. This wonderful woman cared for countless patients in nearly a decade of service. A series of car accidents in the early 2000s and subsequent time off helped her decide to move to a different field. After getting her CDL driver's license she went into truck driving/hotshot and enjoyed traveling the nation and making sure every load was delivered for the last sixteen years.
Doris was a very passionate person, finding many things in life to enjoy along side her family. She developed an early love for mountains and traveling. Making sure she went to nearly all the states in the western United States. She loved doing just about anything with her sons, including sharing her love for cooking, yard decoration, and home improvement. HGTV brought her much delight, so much she watched nearly nothing else on TV. She enjoyed fashion and clothing in addition. Doing a good job, in whatever field she was in at the time, was extremely important to her and she took pride in a job well done. For the last few decades she became closer with God and strived to be a great vessel for Him to work through and help others come to know Him. She was very personable and had a knack for making new friends and striking up conversations with anyone. With her extraordinary life she absolutely loved telling stories of all her experiences, as well as telling others of how the Lord carried her through everything. "Never a dull moment" was a common phrase for her to use to describe life but with all she went through in the last 9 years battling Leukemia she learned a new phrase. "The Key Is Faith" and that will always be special to her family because the Lord helped her overcome more than imaginable and she realized that Faith is the Key to overcoming all of life's pains and struggles because God overcomes ALL. With her faith and all she conquered, her willpower and warriorlike strength to never give up was an absolute inspiration.
Her main accomplishments in life were making sure her sons knew they were loved immensely, raised right, and knew the Lord. She also attained giving her life to the Lord and being baptized at age 22, being married at 25, had two sons in her late 20s, award winning fashion model, top in her class at both EMT school and university for her CDL license, driven over two million safe miles, mastered cooking (much to the delight of her sons), helped others through many tough times, strived to lead others to the Lord, overcame numerous medical issues including beating leukemia, world's best hugger, and many other achievements.
Our Heavenly Father and Doris' family welcome her with open arms in Heaven to an eternal life, pain free and joy filled.
Doris Jane Davis was and always will be the world's greatest mother in her sons' eyes and we look forward to seeing her in Heaven. Watch over us Mom and guide us through life.
The Key Is Faith.
