Doris Y. Graham

DORIS ELAINE “MawMaw” YOUNG GRAHAM, 99 passed away on December 6, 2021. She was under hospice care at home, where she was visited by numerous friends and family. She passed peacefully with her son by her side, holding her hand.

Doris was married to husband, Dr. Robert Graham, DDS until his death in 1999. She was also predeceased by infant daughter, Jennifer; sister, Betty and Betty’s husband, Austin Gutierrez; brother, Gordon Graham and parents, Ruth and Hayden Young.

She is survived by daughter, Lynda Fenneman and husband, Cliff Fenneman; son, Robert Gordon Graham, Sr.; son, Gregory Graham and wife, Martha; grandson, Robert Gordon Graham, Jr. and wife, Jennifer; granddaughter, Michelle Corbitt and husband, James; grandson, Christopher Graham; granddaughter, Lillie Graham; granddaughter, Dr. Allie Graham and husband, Jason Presnell and granddaughter, Shelby Graham, as well as great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Doris was an avid birder who traveled to Costa Rica, Alaska, and California as well as many sites in Texas. She was a supporter of the Houston Audubon Society, specifically their site at High Island. She played with the same ladies’ bridge group weekly from 1942 to the pandemic. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.

She was born November 6, 1922 in Houston, TX, USA. Doris married Robert in 1941. The family of five moved to Fort Briggs in El Paso in 1953 to serve in the Air Force. The Graham’s lived in Sharpstown for many years upon their return to Houston from El Paso in 1955. She worked at Lamar High School as treasurer for seventeen years.

Services will be at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery at 6900 Lawndale on December 15, 2021. Visitation is from 11AM to 1PM. Service in the Colonial Chapel will begin at 1PM. The graveside services will begin at 2PM at Graham lot in Section 16.
