Dorothy Marion Paine Knight

The youngest of five children, Dorothy was born in Raccoon Bend, Texas on Tuesday, July 6, 1920, to Robert Glover Paine and Mary Cornelia (Woodley) Paine. On October 10, 1942, she married Lee Howard Knight, who preceded her in death.

Dorothy was a member of Garden Oaks Baptist Church. She retired from Oak Forest Bank 1980, and for the last five years, made her home at The Bradford in Livingston, Texas.

Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved the time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dorothy shared a special bond with her daughter Cindy, who has been her caregiver for the last several years. She was very active in all of her children's activities in the community. Dorothy enjoyed her family and friends tremendously and was always fun to be around. She was a caring person who also helped take care of everyone.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Cindy Bruce and friend Don Robinson, Sandy Cole and husband Roger, and by her son Gary Wayne Knight. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Amy Schuller, Lauren Hamrick and husband James, Paul Bruce Jr. and wife Morgan, Christopher Bruce and wife Melissa, and David Bruce; great grandchildren, Katln and David Bruce III, Corbin and Eliana Bruce, Halley Hamrick and Paisley Bruce; and by her sister, Hattie Mitchell of Virginia.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Robert Paine and Mary Paine Perkins, her husband Lee; brothers, Robert Paine, Ray T. Paine and wife Heather; sister, Sadie Paine Sillavan and husband Hollis, and by her brother-in-law, Jack Mitchell.

Family and friends gathered for a visitation from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Waltrip Funeral Directors, 1415 Campbell Road in Houston, 77055, where funeral services were held in the chapel at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 10, 2016. Graveside services and interment followed at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer, also in Houston, 77077.
