Reminiscing about living in Houston, TX in the 1970s. I took dance at Niland School
Of dance when they were located in front of our subdivision Champions. Mary Margaret and Dotsey were my teachers. I loved  acrobat with Dotsey. Ballet with Mary Margaret. We had our recitals at Jones Hall downtown. My mom sewed all of our costumes. The studio was moved across 1960 to a new location. Shortly after that, I stopped taking dance and our family was transferred to New Jersey. 
I loved both sisters and really loved Acro with Dotsey. 
Such wonderful memories of a wonderful dance teacher

Oh, my gosh, Dotsy.
Oh, Netty.
One person so great to help children.  
Mary Margaret also.
Without them, it is possible I would be a freak.
"FROM THE CORNER, BABIES".

I often think of Dotsy and my many years of dance at Niland's. She was an amazing teacher and woman, always encouraging, kind and positive. So many years later I still miss that time and still love dance. I have not been in touch for so many years, but something told me to look for information about her yesterday and found of her recent passing.

Prayers for her family and friends. Just wanted to send a note that she was so influential in my life and love of dance. Treasured memories!

Dotsy was the best. My very first tap teacher who gave me the love of dance. 
I am thinking of the entire family and sending everyone love. Thank you for giving this little girl so much love and care. 
So so very sorry for this loss but what a life! 99!!! We should all be so lucky.

My thoughts and prayers are with you Annette and the entire Toole family on the  death of your sweet Mother, Dotsy.   I spent many hours, days and years at the  Niland School of Dance beginning at preschool until College.  All good memories and I attribute my confidence and success to Dotsy , sister MaryMargaret and all the time I spent there.  I will always remember and think of Dotsy as being kind, gentle, soft and sweet. She never had to discipline us that I recall because we were all happy to be there with her and of course loved dancing.  Dotsy was an incredible dancer and teacher and  will live forever in my heart and memory. Dance has been and will forever be a part of my soul.  I’m grateful to my classmate Suzanne, for reaching out to me with with this news of our sweet Dotsy.

I was fortunate to have the dear teaching of tap dancing and ballet lessons from Dotsy and Sissy, as I called my teachers. Sisters to each other and Owners of the Niland School of Dance. It was a wonderful 
experience, and the recitals were exciting with elaborate costumes, umbrella’s, kimonos, lanterns, beaks, wings, sequins, head pieces, glittered coated tap shoes, painted color coordinated ballet shoes presented in Houston, Texas to audiences in the Downtown Houston Music Hall and the Houston Coliseum Theater.  Amazing memory makers and role models, for my older sister and me!

I took dance with you many years ago in Houston - my name is Candis Davidson known as Candy.  I am a fan of Virgin River.  Having just finished the season I started the google searching and found a video of your Mom dancing.  Being a student of Dotsy and friend of yours I continued searching.  I shared your Mom's video with many of my friends and they were so impressed.  I was so surprised to google her and see her obituary.  I am so sad for your loss.  You and your Mom and Aunt were so special to my life.  My thoughts are with you and your family.

Dotsy will be dearly missed!   Her fervor for life and love was unmistakeable.  Those who were fortunate to know Dotsy and her beloved West, were touched and lucky in so many ways.  Dotsy’s understated devotion and compassion was beautiful.  She cared deeply for her family and extended family.  She never missed a beat both literally and figuratively.  Our lives are richer and warmer because of Dotsy and we feel blessed to have been a part of her story.  Rest in peace beautiful Dotsy and give our love to West!  We love you!!!  The Temples

We are deeply saddened to learn of the death of Dorothy. She was a wonderful woman and devout Catholic who loved Our Blessed Mother under the title of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. I met her and her late husband Wes, who she has now joined in death, when I was in Garden Grove  and began visiting her and late husband in Los Angeles especially in bringing her the Sacraments. After leaving  CA, we kept in touch by phone
 and letters and visits when I would return to CA from time to time.  The last time I saw her was in a Home in LA and and then was moved someplace where of late, no one knew, except her daughter. God rest her soul and May she rest in Eternal Peace.
