Douglas Payne Swearingen

DOUGLAS PAYNE SWEARINGEN passed away Saturday, January 4, 2025, at the age of 44 and was called home to Heaven. Welcoming him with open arms was God, his mother, grandparents, a host of angels and many others experiencing an eternity of perfect peace, happiness, and love in the presence of God.

Doug was born on December 20, 1980, in Houston, Texas. He is preceded in death by his mother, Martha Patricia Swearingen, grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Abe Swearingen and Mr. & Mrs. Samuel Payne, uncles Abe (Tex) Swearingen and George Payne, aunts Aster Presswood, Brenda Swearingen, and Mary Black.

Doug is survived by his father Gary Lynn Swearingen, Sr., his brothers, Gary Lynn Swearingen, Jr., Samuel Adrian Swearingen, his niece Sky Lynn Swearingen, his Aunts Sharon Moon and Betty Hawkins, Uncles John Swearingen, Samuel Payne, Jr. and numerous cousins, and dear friends.

Doug shared with all of us his gifts of kindness, compassion, forgiveness, and willingness to help and defend family, friends, and strangers while never asking for anything in return. These attributes spoke volumes about his strength, and character. Our hearts are broken, and we’ll always miss him. Our love for Doug will be carried in our hearts forever.

Services will be Friday, February 7, 2025, at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023. Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
