

Edgar Walker “Ed” Raley, one of the “Greatest Generation”, passed away to be with the Lord on April 16, 2014. Ed was a graduate of Milby High School. He was a Pearl Harbor survivor having served on the U.S.S. Whitney that infamous day, 12-7-41. Ed worked for Folgers Coffee, a subsidiary of Proctor and Gamble, for 47 years. He coached two Houston Parochial School Junior High City Championship Football teams, both undefeated and the 1954 team going unscored on. After retirement he and wife Maggie were known for baking delicious banana pudding and cakes at Pizzitola’s B-B-Que. He is preceded in death by his father Edgar W. Raley Sr., mother Hatti Graham, sister Nelda McGowen, and step-son Joseph Pizzitola, Jr. Ed is survived by the “Only Love of His Life”, Marguerite “Sugar” Raley. They were married 67 years. Survived also by: Son James Walker Raley and wife Cynthia and grandchildren Erin and David Colvin, Jacob Raley and Erin, Jeffrey Raley and Amy. Daughter Mary Anne Bair and Philip. Son Jeffrey Raley and Julie and grandchildren Madison, Natalie, Melanie, Emma, Frannie, and Ford. Widow Janet Pizzitola, and granddaughter Elizabeth Ridgway and Kevin, grandson Joseph Edgar Pizzitola, granddaughter Kelly Jarratt and David, grandchildren Chelsea, Alan, and Andrew Pizzitola. Stepson Michael J. Pizzitola and Kay and grandchildren Michael Jr., Angela Schwarzbach and Steve, Andrea Thompson, Jimmy Pizzitola, Margaret Ann and Mark Thurman. Stepson Johnny Pizzitola and Peggy and grandchildren Jessica Jarrett, John Pizzitola Jr., Jason Pizzitola and Shelley, and Jared and Heather Pizzitola. Also survived by twenty one great grandchildren. Friends and family are invited to the visitation at Forest Park Lawndale April 20th from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Rosary and Service with Monsignor Fred O’Connor officiating will be at Forest Park Lawndale April 21 beginning at 10AM.
