Elaine Camilla (Brewer) Hilton

Elaine Camilla Hilton, aged 90 years, passed away October 21st, 2023 in Houston, Texas. Elaine was born December 8th, 1932 in Del Rio, Texas to Julius Brewer and Capitola Downey Brewer, the first of 3 children.

In the early years of the Depression, she was born and raised on the railroad in Texas because her father worked for Southern Pacific. Elaine graduated from Reagan High School in the Heights and began her career for an oil and gas company in downtown Houston. She later moved to Spring Branch where she worked for Daniel Orifice which became Daniel Industries, and in later years at John Crane Inc. In her retirement she served as President of the Women’s Guild at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church in Spring Branch. She enjoyed traveling with her husband Lavell to Scotland, England and France as well as road trips up to Maine and the east coast visiting friends. She loved watching thrifting and cooking videos as well as going to the Double K Ranch in New Ulm with her grandsons and family spending time in the Texas countryside.

Elaine is preceded in death by her parents, Julius and Capitola Brewer, her husband Lavell Hilton, and her brother Bill Brewer, She is survived by her daughter Lori Safieh and son-in-law Rick Safieh of Sugar Land, TX, sister Linnie South of New Ulm, TX, grandchildren Kyle Safieh of Los Angeles, CA, Kurt Safieh of Sugar Land, TX. and niece and nephew Cindy and Joe Kralis of Georgetown, TX.

A visitation with family and friends began at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Waltrip Funeral Directors, 1415 Campbell Road in Houston, where funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Graveside services and interment followed at Woodlawn Garden of Memories, 1101 Antoine Drive, also in Houston.
