

Ellen Claire Rodrigue LaBauve, 65, of Pearland, Texas, passed away August 28, 2025, after a 20+ year battle with cancer. Ellen fought with fortitude and strength through 3 rounds of cancer before passing peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family.
Ellen was born to Henry Cieutat Rodrigue and Yvonne Claire Fletcher Rodrigue on November 17, 1959, in Houston, Texas. She graduated from Milby High School in 1978 and received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Houston Main Campus in 1982. She married James Henry LaBauve Jr. October 15, 1994. They were happily married for 22 years and resided in Pearland, Texas until his passing June 17, 2016. Ellen helped nurture and raise their daughter Tammara Rene’ Burch and many other extended family members.
She is survived by her sisters Kay Madeleine Rodrigue and Nancy Rodrigue Cook, her daughter Tammara Rene’ Burch, her daughter-in-law Susan Gail Keslar, and her brothers-in-law Llewellyn and Lucius LaBauve. She also leaves to cherish her memory her 6 nieces and nephews Christine M. Cook, Joanne F. Cook, Yvonne C. Cook, Grant R. Cook III, Nancy I. Cook, August H.R. Cook, 7 grandnephews, 1 grandniece, 8 first cousins, 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Yvonne and Henry Rodrigue, her husband, James Henry LaBauve Jr., In-Laws Marie LaBauve and James Henry LaBauve Sr., her granddaughter Ashley Lynn LaBauve, grandson Zachary Ray LaBauve, as well as her grandparents and numerous cousins. Ellen worked as an Accountant for Texaco Chevron for 32 years, retiring in 2015. She enjoyed cooking for and visiting with her large family, hosting family events, spending time with her many cats throughout the
years (most recently her beloved kitties Harvey, Whiskers and Smokey), gardening, traveling and antiquing. She was the source of many family traditions and will be sorely missed as a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend and confidante.
A visitation for Ellen will be held September 3, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale St., Houston TX 77023. A funeral service will immediately follow on the same day at 12:00 PM, and a graveside committal service at 1:00 PM. A reception will follow at the home of daughter Tammara Burch. The family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, the Humane Society, or to the favorite charity of your choice. The family would also like to thank Araceli Lepez, neighbors Becky and Christine, friends Kathy, Lois and Sue for all their support given, and Wanda and Michelle at Alamo Hospice for their care and kindness during Ellen’s final days.
