Born to Teodoro Luna and Luz Vega on October 3, 1948, in Brownsville, Texas, Enrique Luna ventured out in the world at a young age to find work and adventure. His travels took him West to California where he along with other strong migrant workers tended the vast fruit fields. He continued his way up North doing laborer work in various states. After years of work traveling, he settled down in Houston, Texas with his then wife, Francisca Luna. He devoted himself for many years to the Brown and Root Company as a skilled electrician; he continued this trade to the very end. Enrique not only dedicated his time to work but to his three children, Sergio E. Luna, Manuel Luna, and Monica Luna as well as his numerous grandchildren.
Enrique loved spending time in his garden, where he was knowledgeable in orange and avocado trees, due to his time in the fruit fields. He enjoyed his early five-mile morning walks with his walking group at Strawberry Park, where he always greeted you with a smile and a “good morning.” Most weekends were spent tinkering around his garage, enjoying the company of neighbors, friends, and family, caring for his rescue animals, Lily, Luna, and his birds, or enjoying a local music festival or celebration.
Funeral services will be held for Mr. Enrique V. Luna on October 14, 2021, at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home beginning at 1 p.m., and it is open to anyone wishing to pay their respects. The family wishes to thank everyone for their continued prayers and condolences.
