

Eric Louis Taylor, 29, died in his sleep Monday, June 22, 2015. Eric was a determined young man who was working toward gaining further education and expanding his opportunities. Eric was loved dearly by his parents Darrell Thomas (Tom) Taylor and Leslie Copeland Taylor, and his brothers Darrell Richard Taylor, and Carl Thomas Taylor. He is survived by his uncle, Brant Copeland, his aunts Celia Chipman and T-Lou Glenn and many cousins. Eric was born in Houston, attended HISD schools and graduated from Allen Academy in Bryan, Texas. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville Texas in December 2008. Eric enlisted into the Army. He was a E 4 Specialist with Bravo Company, 4th Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment stationed at Fort Lewis until his honorable discharge in early 2014. He took advantage of the training and apprentice program generously sponsored by the Plumbers and Pipefitter’s Union and worked in Tampa Florida with EMCOR/MSI servicing and repairing commercial cooling units. The hot Tampa rooftops helped inspire Eric to return to Houston to continue university studies. He loved learning new skills. His approval to change his GI Bill benefits arrived in the mail the same day he died. Visiting with friends and family is scheduled for 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Heights Funeral Home, 1317 Heights Boulevard, Houston, TX 77008. A memorial service at the Heights Funeral Home chapel will held Sunday, June 28, 2015 at 3 p.m. with a reception afterward. A private burial will be at the National Cemetery on Tuesday, June 30, 2015.
