

Born on February 1, 1953, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Ernie spent his early years surrounded by family, enjoying the outdoors with his siblings through hunting and fishing adventures that instilled in him a lifelong love of nature. He graduated from Louisiana State University with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, setting the foundation for a pioneering career in technology.
After moving to Houston, Ernie founded his own company, Bit Twiddlers, where he innovated in the early days of computer programming. He later joined DOB Systems, continuing to write computer programs until his retirement in October 2018.
Ernie’s passions extended far beyond his professional life. Known for being the life of the party, he cherished spending time with his sons, Eric and Dustin, as well as friends and family, captivating them with his humorous stories and intellectual insights. He found great joy at his beloved property, "The Ranch," where he explored the woods with his dogs and honed his skills with various firearms. His enthusiasm for the outdoors fostered deep connections and brought joy to those around him.
He is predeceased by his mother, Theresa; father, Payton; and sisters, Sherry and Minnie. He is survived by his wife, Shannon; his sons, Eric and Dustin; his sister, Saline; his brothers, Michael and Jeff; and a wide circle of family and friends who will remember him for his adventurous spirit and unwavering dedication.
A celebration of his life will be held at Heights Funeral Home on August 19, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
