

Born Ernest Ewart Cook, on March 23, 1926, in Stratton St. Margaret, Wiltshire, England, to Dorothy Wiltshire and Edgar Cook. Growing up, Ernie was the eldest of three, with a younger brother Rex David Cook, and younger sister, Eileen Ruth Cook. Ernie received a scholarship from Clare College Cambridge, where he earned a degree in Physics. He specialized in Geophysics, and over his life worked in many different countries and on six continents exploring for oil. He was truly a pioneer. He served as a Director on the Boards of many publicly-traded companies.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 30 years, Marian Frances Cook; daughter and son-in-law, Julia Cook Seay and husband Will, and grand-daughter Helen Seay; his sister, Eileen Ruth Cook; his stepson, Byron Janik and wife Judy Janik of Sugar Land, Texas, and their two sons Zackary Janik and Eli Janik; his stepson, Paul Janik and wife Natalie Janik of Katy Texas, and their three sons, Jack Janik, Luke Janik, and Logan Janik; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
