Your sister and I are going to Paris in a couple weeks for the first time .  We have been thinking about you a lot and wishing you were here to show us around the city you loved so much.  We would like more than anything to see some painting or such you left behind there .

Went to Paris over the holidays. You were everywhere. Practiced my french despite the many giggles. You would have loved the fun I had trudging down the Champs Elysees. I miss you so much.

Charlie and I are going to New Mexico to see if it is the place for us.  I thought about many trips we've taken especially the trip with Ray when we went to Colorado and then to the Royal Gouge.  Ray kept jumping up and down on the bridge remember?  He was trying to scare you and it worked.  We just laughed after it was over.  Remember we stopped and bought food to feed the wild deer?  Though you are where you should be,  I miss you lots.  But I will keep promise to you.  I will not cry.  I am thinking of you and I know that you are always with me. yesterday while rearranging Ilyas´ room (where has time gone...he´s almost eight now) I looked at the back your painting. The one you did at the river downtown Munich in 2005. It says: `Thanks for the nice day in the park. Remember always-life is worth living!´
It made me cry right away.

I can't believe it's been a year and my heart still weighs heavy. I take comfort in that last week we shared together at MDA. How we ruminated over old times, friends long passed and old loves and we actually learned new things about each other. This is what I cherished about our friendship that we could share everything. You know, it was a complete accident but I found a recording of one of our conversations! It was good to hear your voice again friend! I miss you!  I know you are singing in Heaven with the angels. You fought the good fight with grace and dignity and you will forever remain my hero. I love you and miss you.

While quietly celebrating Christ's Birth, I thought of a memory that only you and I share.  "Consider this a Long Distance Email".  I know you will get this.

Remember when you were still living in the garage apartment behind your mom's house? It was a Sunday morning and we missed going to  meeting. Soooo, at 10:00 AM with our coffee in tow, we read the scriptures that we were suppose to reflect on at that mornings meeting. 

It was about Heaven.  You and I discussed for the longest time with tears in our eyes, whether WE would make it in to Heaven.

Finally I said "Ernie I know I won't make it too the top of Heaven because that is reserved for the best, but, if I only make it to the dog house level, then I will be very happy just to have the honor to be there". Then you said " Me too. If we are blessed to make it there, then the Dog House is fine by me".  

We laughed as we seriously pondered the idea and how badly we wanted to end up with Jesus in the most special place of all.

We talked and laughed about this wonderful memory over the years.  We spoke of that the second to the last time, I spoke too you,

I love you my dear sweet brother and I miss you terribly each day.

I long for the Grace of God to reunite us once again, if only in the Dog House Level of Heaven.

Ernest was the most open minded person I ever got to know. He really enjoyed to get in touch with people from all over the world, making it a better place.

My Sweet Brother was so glad and Thankful for each and everyone of his Friends and Family while here on earth. He Loved each and everyone and knew no stranger. We talked of the Lord and the Mansions that he was going home to. He suffered much but was comforted by the comforter and found much peace and rest his in is soul.

I can only hope and pray that in my final days on earth I can be as brave and confident in my spirit as you were.  You were like a brother to me. I remember fondly our times with your Dad on our road trip to Alaska.

I remember Ernest just sitting in the office talking to me at the day care, especially when he would come from his trips. He would always tell me he couldn't wait for me to go with him to Paris so he could "show me off" because they would love me. Well we all loved him & I hate we never took that trip. But we will meet again one day in that Paris in the sky. R.I.P. Ernest. We will miss you dearly!!!

We will forever treasure the Spirit of Christ which Ernest showed during the brief time we knew him. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the family especially toward Patsy, Mark and Mary who we know personally.

Ernie is one of my very favorite nephews.  Memories of him when Bev & I were first wed and ya'll were in our home, Bev serving cookies & coffee,soda, etc and he asked her "Aunt Bev, are you a Mommy now?" She loved him as much as I do and that is a lot !  I am so glad his choices in the last few years have brought him safely to our Heavenly home.  Our thoughts and prayers are with ya'll these days.
