Esther Flores Martinez

Esther is preceded in death by her husband, Selestino Martinez, Sr, infant daughter Corinne; Brothers, Phillip Alvarado, Rudy Flores, Arthur Flores, Raymond Flores and Sisters, Mela Alvarez and Evelyn Lopez.

She is survived by her beloved children, Sel Martinez, Jr. (Migdalia); Laura Gallego (Richard♰); Pete Martinez; Robert Martinez (San Juana); Estella Nantz (Jim); Monica Gomez (Corey); Matthew Martinez, Sr; Grace Bosch (Chuck); 16 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Esther married Selestino (her Jewel) on June 23, 1950. They were married 62 years before his passing in 2012. They were long life-time active parishioners of St. Patrick’s Church for many years. A woman of strong faith knew that she would join her beloved “Jewel” and reunite with her other beautiful family members in heaven. She was a devoted nurturing mother who cared for her 8 children unconditionally. She treasured all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid ASTROS fan and her favorite player was Jose Altuve. She dreamt of meeting him one day to give him a special gift; however, we had to explain to her that it was very hard to get “close to a Superstar.” She was also known as one who could remember everyone’s birthday, anniversary, and family life events. Daily, she would solve word search and number search puzzles. Her mind was very sharp with many memories over the years. She also loved going to casinos and living life to the fullest. She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed watching movies until her final days.

Even though we will miss her tremendously, we know that she and our Dad are watching over all of us. She will forever live in our hearts.

Visitation for Esther will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2025 at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale, Houston, Texas 77023 from 5:00pm – 8:00pm. Rosary will be held at 6:30pm. Funeral service will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025 at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home in the Grand Chapel at 12:00pm (noon). Committal will be at Forest Park East Cemetery, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas 77598 at 1:30pm. Reception immediately following at St. Patrick’s Church Hall, 4918 Cochran Street, Houston, Texas 77009.
