Eugene "Gene" Holland Nixon

Eugene “Gene” Holland Nixon, born October 2, 1929 to Holland and Margaret Nixon in Houston, Texas, passed away December 3, 2012 in Houston with his children by his side. Mr. Nixon was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bill Nixon. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Opal “Mickey” Arnold Nixon; twin children, Vickie Staff and husband, Rick, and Rick Nixon and wife, Vicki; grandchildren, Stephanie and Matt Staff and Johnny and Jake Nixon; sister, Mary McQuerry, and by numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and many close friends.

Gene was an avid fisherman, hunter, and baseball fan. He loved to fly as an unauthorized co-pilot with his son, Rick. He was a wonderful Dad and Papa, and was always the life of the party. Gene will be greatly missed, but his family is secure in the knowledge that he is now happy in his heavenly home with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

A memorial service will be held 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 1819 Heights Boulevard, Houston, Texas 77008. Burial will be private in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, Houston, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, or a charity of your choice.
