EULA was the seventh child born to the union of Henry Ray Hunter and Sidney Hunter on September 16, 1929 in Milam County, Texas. She was the youngest girl of her siblings and the last to survive. Eula is preceded in death by her parents and six brothers: Leo, Sonnie Lee, Ike, Ernest “Tot”, Peter, Henry “Ray” along with two sisters: Lucy Bell and Eva Beatrice “Bea”. “MAE” as she was fondly known, was baptized at Old Providence Baptist Church in Branchville, Texas where her foundation of Christian faithfulness and the love of the Lord were modeled. After graduating from high school, she relocated to Houston where she united with the True Light Missionary Baptist Church under the powerful leadership of Dr. William Bowie, Jr. Blessed with one daughter, Regina, EULA MAE was a hard-working Mother and a reliable employee for Brittan’s Broiler Burger where she met a life-long friend, Ruby Nell Branch. She was later employed at Weingarten’s Inc. from where she retired. Her love for beauty was cultivated as she completed her continuing education for Floral Design at the Houston Community College. She graciously utilized her talent at True Light as she, along with the late Sister Samanther Wilson – THE DYNAMIC DUO, designed and distributed the Annual Women’s Day corsages – that we A L L remember! She touched generations of young people as a faithful and dedicated teacher in the Sunday School’s Primary Department and as co-sponsor of the Junior Ushers; whom she kept “in check!” She was a member of the Women’s Chorus and was appointed as a Trustee by Pastor Emeritus John W. Bowie, Sr. Sister Eula Mae remained steadfast until the permanent Pastor, Anthony F. Halley, II was called. AUNT MAE demonstrated her love for her family and friends through her delicious dishes – Sweet Potato Pies, Macaroni and Cheese, Seven Up Cakes and her Signature Holiday Punch! “LOVE” and “MOTHER-IN-LAW” would always make sure there were Pecan Pies for William, Herbert, and “Toots.” The Sunday prior to her passing, her daughter, Regina, her son-in-law, William and her grandsons, Ephraim and Eian enjoyed a jovial visit with her. On Wednesday evening, as her life drew to a close, she displayed a spirit of humor to William and Regina, along with her nieces, Eleanor and Jerri as they sat by her beside. Her body was frail and she was tired; and on Thursday morning, July 20, 2017 she peacefully transitioned to her new home. She leaves many loving memories to her daughter, Regina Jackson and her “STELLAR” son-in-law, William; her grandsons, Ephraim and Eian; nieces and nephews, Charles (Charlotte) of Cameron, Texas; Roy Elton (Pamela) of Fort Worth, Texas; Eleanor (Herbert); Jerri (James); Eva Marie, Peter James, Sheryl Lynn, Judy Ann, Bobbie Jean of St. Louis, Missouri, John “Wilbert” (Jackie), and Tyrone; her sisters-in-law, Eunice “Curley” Hunter and Ruth Hunter; great nieces and nephews, Godchild, Krystal Marshall; her best friend and road buddy, Ruby Nell Branch, cousins, extended family AND her Family of Light.
