Evelyn Castle Stephens, a native Houstonian, was born on September 20, 1913 and died on Friday, November 9, 2012, at the age of 99. She was the daughter of Elmer Newton and Annie Johanna Castle. Evelyn graduated from Reagan High School and attended Texas Women's University in Denton. In 1935 she married William Harper Stephens, who preceded her in death in 1998.
She leaves behind her daughter, Ann Wyman; granddaughter, Victoria (Vika) Wyman; nephew, Quinn Henderson and wife Karen; niece, Joyce Norris and husband Mike.
Evelyn was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was very fortunate to have enjoyed the company of many dear friends throughout her life. Her outgoing, lively personality, sense of humor and positive attitude will be deeply missed.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Houston SPCA, the Humane Society, or charity of choice.
