Fermin was born to Fermin Villarreal and Violeta Moreno Flores on May 30, 1957, in Laredo, Texas. He was married to Lala Villarreal for 36 years. Together they raised a daughter, Megan Ann Villarreal.
He is survived by: His daughter Megan Ann Villarreal. He also leaves to cherish his memory his sisters, Mary Abarca, Mary Helen Uresti, Diana Puente, Barbara Villarreal and his brotherJerry Villarreal along with
many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother Violeta Moreno Flores and father Fermin Villarreal.
After leaving the US Marine Corp. Fermin, worked for Motorola for several years. He later worked as a Drug and Alcohol counselor while attending San Jacinto Community College. After earning an Associates degree he worked for the Chicano Family Center, working with HISD students, where he was known as "Mr. V" he
counseled and mentored at risk gang members to stay in school and out of trouble. He went on to work with a non-profit and city leaders to open one of the first Day Labor Centers in the East End to protect the rights and wages of the day laborers. ln his final chapter he dedicated his Iife as a Patient Advocate for the
mentally ill and disabled to secure they received respect, housing and medical care.
His passion was "La Otra" his 2009 Harley Davidson Dana Lowrider show bike which he competed and won over forty 1st place and best in show competitions.
