Frances Contreras

Frances was a life long resident of Baytown. She was a member of St Joseph’s Catholic Church where she and her husband Andres “Andy” Contreras married in 1935. They were blessed and raised four sons and two daughters. She instilled in her children the importance of a good education and an energetic work ethic.

She sold Avon products for 55 years and was known by the community as the “Avon Lady”. Her excellent sales skills allowed her to be a member of Avon’s President’s Club during most of her tenure with Avon. Additionally, she was employed part time at her friend’s restaurant, Gonzalez Mexican Dishes for 20+ years.. No matter how busy she was she always had time to tend to her garden. Birds were her favorite pets. She enjoyed caring for them and never had enough!

She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years Andres “Andy” Contreras, her mother-in-law Inez Contreras, her parents Fermin Juarez and Juana Flores Juarez, 5 sisters and 1 brother.

Frances is survived by her sister Socorro and bother-in-law Emilio Barajas, a brother Ancelmo “Jesse” Juarez. and her 6 beloved children: Xavier Contreras and wife, Rosie of San Antonio, Dolores Amaya and husband, Baldemar of Baytown, Hiram “Art “ Contreras and wife, Alicia of Houston, Jiyanna “Peaches” Beltran of Chicago Il, Tony Contreras and wife, Patricia of Plainfield, NJ; James Contreras and his partner, Keith Lynch of Houston. Her 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren made her life complete. She enjoyed sharing fun times with her numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation is scheduled on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 from 5:00PM – 9:00PM at Forest Park Funeral Home. The rosary will be recited at 7:00PM.

The funeral mass is scheduled at 10:00AM on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at St Joseph’s Catholic Church, 1907 Carolina Baytown, Texas 77520 with Father Edmund Eduarte officiating.
