Frank was born to Pete and Julia Chagoya on July 17, 1944. He grew up in southeast Houston surrounded by a large family of four brothers and two sisters. In 1963, he proudly graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School.
In 1964, he married the love of his life, Marcella Matamoros. Together they were blessed with and raised a loving family of six children.
Frank worked as a welder throughout his life from 1964 until he retired in 2006. He took pride in his strong work ethic and was a man of his word. He also used his welding talents to help build churches and create various works of metal art he shared with his beloved family.
Frank was a believer in Christ, and his faith remained an important and influential part of his life. He took delight in telling his life story of God’s miraculous healing from cancer when he was a young man in 1975. For many, his life story planted the seed of the Gospel.
He was an energetic and active person who enjoyed the outdoors, exercising, fishing and bowling. Most of all, he cherished spending time with his nine grandchildren who brought tremendous joy to his life.
He had a wonderful sense of humor and the ability to strike up a conversation with anyone. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who went above and beyond for his family. His adoration for his loved ones will always be treasured and remembered.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Marcella Chagoya. He also leaves to cherish his memory his six children, Christina Edmiston, Ramona Gonzalez, Frank Chagoya Jr., Jacob Chagoya, Victor Chagoya and Vincent Chagoya, as well as daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, grandchildren, a brother, a sister, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Pete and Julia Chagoya, his brothers, Manuel Chagoya, Joe Chagoya, Perfecto Chagoya and sister, Rosie Chagoya Garcia.
The family will receive guests at 12:45 in the afternoon, and the service to celebrate his life will begin at 1:30 PM on Thursday, July 14, 2022, at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home in Houston, Texas.
