Gene Ewing Hill of Nassau Bay, Texas, passed away on November 15, 2023 at the age of 97. In his passing he was surrounded by those he loved. His regiment of Spam, Greyhounds and El Productos led him to almost 98 years of a life well lived.
Gene was born in Galveston, TX on December 5, 1925 to Louis Hamilton Hill and Lorraine Elizabeth Smith. His life was full of kindness, love and generosity which he spread to everyone he encountered.
In his youth Gene served his country during World War II in the Navy. Over the years he tried his hand at many professions, finding his joy in the game of Golf. He was a retired PGA Golf Professional and spent many years sharing that love with his many friends at Glenbrook Golf Course. When he was not golfing he
enjoyed hunting, fishing and clamming with family and friends. In his later years he developed a passion for reading, which occupied most of his waking hours.
Gene was a true southern gentleman, always polite and kind. He would help anyone in need, and a stranger was just a friend he hadn’t met yet.
Gene is survived by his beloved daughters Sandra and Susan, and his step family Rick, Melva, Kris, Kirk and Trina, and his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild, many friends, and his best friend and canine companion Daisy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane (Mimi) Hill.
May he enjoy peace in Heaven as we all hear the songs of Angels rejoicing. Gene Ewing Hill, the most loving man, is finally among their ranks.
A Graveside ceremony is scheduled for November 21, 2023, 10:00 am at Forest Park Lawndale Ceremony.
