

George Roy Fields "aka" Ray was born October 20, 1954 in Houston, Texas to the late Mr. John McCray and Bernice Powell Fields. Ray was the baby boy of five kids and now will precede his four siblings in death, one sister, Dorothy Mae Fields Douglas and three brothers, John Fields, Larry Fields, and Author Fields. He also will precede his daughter, Angela French and three grandchildren, Allen French Jr., Rubin Washington, and Jonathan French. Ray attended public school in Houston, Texas where he always called home but moved to Shreveport, Louisiana in 2009 after the death of his daughter, where he resided at the time of his death. For over thirty years he worked in the construction business as a heavy equipment operator. He claimed he one of the best in the business, where he could lay someone on their stomach in a man hole and scratch their back with a tractor and never break their skin, LOL, (Laugh out Lord). Leaving behind to cherish lots of great memories is his lovely wife, who he adored, Mrs. Lillie Douglas Fields, two daughters, Bernice French, Amie French, (Melvin), four sons, George French, (Alexis), Patrick French, (Shirley), Allen French, (Lateka), Cleveland Douglas, (Trinetta), twenty-three grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and a host of family and friends that stretches wide, including one uncle, Emery Sanders, one aunt, Dorothy Jones, four sister-in-laws, 3 brother-in-laws, nieces , nephews, cousins, and friends. Ray was a dedicated and loving husband, father, uncle, brother, cousin, and friend to many. He worked hard and played hard was one of his favorite sayings. He lived life doing and enjoying what made him happy. Though many trials and tribulations he remain a steady force in the lives of the one he loved. He always cherish and took care of family and friends. "The Last Man Standing "from a generation of love, support, and dedication has now departed this old tricky world and now will be greeted by his love ones at those white pearly gates where there is no worries, no pain, or suffering. Remember this is not goodbye, it a "See You Later" until we meet again.
