Gertrude was born in Chappell Hill to Francis and Steve Kendziora on November 30, 1930. She spent her entire life rooted in Texas. She was married to her love, Harlie Schulze, for over 50 years. They were blessed with six children– Carol Bradford, Evelyn Downing, David Schulze, Harry Schulze, Harvey Schulze, and Larry Schulze.
Gertrude, affectionately known by all as “MoMo”, loved her family immensely. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, having over 25 grandchildren and many others who lovingly considered her their Momo, too! Early in adulthood, she worked at Nabisco, but most of her life was spent as a stay-at-home mom, often caring for her grandchildren and other children as well.
She treasured her many years at Marina Village, where she created countless memories and formed lifelong friendships. She loved to fish. She could out fish anyone brave enough to cast a line beside her. Marina Village also hosted many country dances, and she was always ready for a twirl around the dance floor! She was a wonderful cook who found joy in feeding others and seeing them enjoy her meals. In the evenings, she looked forward to her favorite shows, especially Wheel of Fortune, American Idol, The Voice, and Dancing with the Stars.
Gertrude will be deeply missed by her large and loving family and her many friends. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harlie Schulze; her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Ronnie Bradford; and her grandchildren, Kyle Schulze and Amber Schulze, and many other family members and friends.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Evelyn and Charles “PeeWee” Downing, David and Stacy Schulze, Harvey and Lisa Schulze, Harry and Elaine Schulze, and Larry Schulze; brother-in-law Norman and his wife Brenda Schulze, sister in-law, Jean Schulze; and numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved her dearly.
A light reception and funeral service will be held at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home located at 13102 North Freeway, Houston, TX 77060 on Monday, November 24, 2025. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM, followed by a celebration service beginning at 12:30 PM and a graveside burial at 2:00PM St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery located at 8022 Airline Drive, Houston, TX 77037.
