In 1943 when Gladys was an 18 year old English girl, she met an American GI during WWII. She married this soldier, then moved to a strange country thousands of miles away. They settled in Texas, where they would raise 8 kids in the Heights neighborhood of Houston. In 2010 Gladys lost her hero, her husband Curtis. She has missed him for the last 9 years, but she’s had the support of her abundant family to keep her occupied.
Gladys is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Curtis E. Thompson; and siblings, Peggy, Barbara, and William Albert. She is survived by her children, Curtis C. Thompson (Shirley F.), Barbara Church (Joseph), Linda Zientek (Ronald), William John Thompson, James Thompson (Pamela), Marvin Thompson, Lisa Metcalfe (Russell), and Betty Rohan (Brian); 19 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 12, 2019 from 11AM - 12:15 PM in the chapel of Heights Funeral Home, with the funeral service beginning at 12:15 PM. Interment will follow at Houston National Cemetery.
