

Gladys Schneider Tobias, a loving wife and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2026, in Houston, Texas at the age of 95. Gladys was born on April 11, 1931, in Fayetteville, Texas to Frank and Mary Schneider. Upon graduation from Fayetteville High School, Gladys left the farm to pursue job opportunities in Houston, Texas. Before moving to the big city, Gladys married Leroy Tobias on June 10, 1951, in Frelsburg, Texas and celebrated over 61 years of marriage before Leroy’s passing in 2013. She worked for Maryland Casualty Company, Gulf Oil and General Geophysical Company before retiring from Schott’s Sunbeam Bakery as an accounts payable clerk after 20 years of service. In 1985, Gladys started White Lace Catering and enjoyed providing “perfect receptions” for clients getting married and for friends celebrating anniversaries.
Gladys was a devoted and active parishioner of Assumption Catholic Church for 70 years as a Eucharistic minister, sacristan, and made flower arrangements for the altar. She also led the rosary before mass every Sunday for many years. She was an active member of the Harvest Years, KJZT, Catholic Daughters, Ladies Auxiliary of Council 2917 and the Altar Society serving many terms as an officer. Together with husband, Leroy, Gladys chaired the bingo committee at church and received Parishioner of the Year in 1981 for her continued volunteerism and fundraising efforts.
Gladys enjoyed polka dancing, trips to casinos, playing bingo, card games, and dominos. Her German chocolate cake and Thanksgiving dressing were always in high demand for every family celebration and holiday. Her recipes for both have been shared with many friends and have become favorites in their own households.
Gladys is survived by her children, Brenda Roliard and her husband, Larry of Houston; Harvey Tobias of Houston; Larry Tobias and his wife, Christina of Houston and sister-in-law Mary Ann Jurica of Glidden, Texas. She is also survived by seven grandchildren – Kyle Roliard and his wife, Lindsey of Rogers, Arkansas, Kelly Hellbusch and her husband, Isaac of Lowell, Arkansas, Kevin Roliard and Troy Tobias of Houston, Texas, Tabitha Campo and her husband Stephen of Pearland, Texas, and Jacob and Jace Tobias of Shreveport, Louisiana. Her great-grandchildren are Jordyn Roliard, Jayden Roliard, Jaycee Roliard, Walker Hellbusch, Hallie Jo Hellbusch, and Vincent Campo. Her step-grandchildren are Christopher, Holly, Joshua, Rebecca, and Jace Johnson of Rosenberg, Texas
Visitation with family and friends will be held at Earthman Resthaven Chapel, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, Texas on Sunday, May 3, 2026, from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm. A vigil service and rosary will begin at 6:00 pm.
To celebrate Glady’s life, a funeral mass, to be officiated by The Most Rev. Italo Dell’Oro, C.R.S., will be held on Monday, May 4th at 11:00 am at Assumption Catholic Church, 901 Roselane St. with interment at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, Texas.
