

James Gregory "Greg" Allen, a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully on February 10th, 2024 at the age of 68. Born on August 26, 1955, in Houston, Texas, Greg was the beloved son of Josephine and George Allen.
Greg dedicated four decades as a power line and street light technician for The Houston Power and Lighting Company, where he was known for his unwavering work ethic and commitment to excellence. His dedication was recognized with numerous awards, including several for his perfect attendance, a testament to his reliability and steadfastness.
Beyond his professional life, Greg had a deep passion for weather monitoring, often found studying the skies with his array of gadgets. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, spending cherished moments with his family and friends. Greg was an avid sports enthusiast, passionately supporting his favorite teams, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Los Angeles Dodgers. Greg shared a deep bond with his wife, Theresa Allen, who was not only his partner but also his closest confidante and best friend. Together, they cherished moments spent with loved ones, enjoyed the company of friends and family, and embarked on memorable adventures through their travels.
Greg was admired for his stoic demeanor coupled with a heart of gold. He selflessly cared for his mother, Josephine Allen and aunt, Annie Costa for many years, embodying his belief that family comes first.
Greg is survived by his devoted wife of 34 years, Theresa Allen, his loving son, John Allen McLain III, and his adored grandchildren Elliott and Autumn. He is also survived by his siblings, Steven Allen and Joan Keehan, along with countless friends and relatives who will miss him dearly.
In his quiet strength and selfless nature, Greg touched the lives of many, leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion. He will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to his family and his willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home located at 6900 Lawndale Ave., Houston, TX 77023 on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 10 AM. Visitation with the family will begin at 9 AM.
