

Hector Vela Sepulveda, 88, passed into the kingdom of Heaven on September 13, 2015. He was a loving, generous, and devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, friend and neighbor to all. He was born July 11, 1927, in Agua Dulce, Texas and the eldest living son of a total of 15 children, born to Alfredo and Beatrice Vela Sepulveda, who are now deceased. Hector was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Guadalupe Cruz Sepulveda. Also by his daughter Carmen Anduiza, and his sisters: Tina Alvarado, Rosie Thomas, Socorro Palomares and his brothers: Armando, Giliermo, Carlos, Sonny, Arthur, and David Joel Sepulveda. Hector was a very hard-working man with great integrity; in his young years, he worked for his father doing ranch-hand jobs and labor, later he served in the military, afterward he owned and operated Sepulveda Food Market with support of his siblings, and ultimately worked successfully in the food retail and life Insurance industries. Hector is survived by his daughters: Tina Leal and husband Rafael Jr., Christina Docherty and husband Craig; and by his sons, Paul Ramirez and wife Tomasa, Hector J. Sepulveda and wife Cari; and his siblings: Gilda Cuevas and husband Santos, Eloy and wife Gloria, Ramiro, Roy and wife Lorraine, Alex and wife Minerva. Hector is also survived by many loving family members; 15 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 26 great-great grandchildren, in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Hector will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. We are grateful for God’s divine comfort and peace and His promise of eternal life for all who have accepted Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior. We celebrate Hector’s life and rejoice in knowing we will be reunited with him in Heaven one day. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 18, 2015 from 5:00-9:00pm at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home with a Rosary service at 7:00pm. Funeral service will be at 12:00pm on Saturday, September 19, 2015, at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, followed by a light reception.
