Elena "Helen" Theresa Denham Angelone was born on April 1, 1932 and passed away on January 29, 2021 at age 88. Born and raised in Rochester, NY by her father Leonardo, Helen worked at the Kodak plant and Xerox for many years before following her brothers to Houston. There, she continued working at Xerox and worked at Banking jobs until she retired.
An honest, strong-willed, and colorful lady, Helen was funny. She loved telling long, loud, and animated stories. She was a firecracker who did not mince words. She would tell it like it is, like it or not. At 84, Helen bestowed upon us her secret long life and good health: "My secret is to act young, think young, look young, be young!"
Helen had no children of her own but was close to all her nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by the love of her life Leo Bierwirth, her parents, Maria Carmela Calcutta, and Leonardo Angelone, as well as her sister Mary Shaw and husband Hesh, brother A. J. Angelone and wife Dorothy Jean, and nephew Jamie Angelone.
Helen is survived by her brother Carl Angelone, nieces Theresa Patino, Janet Angelone, Annette Angelone and husband Alois Dober, Mary Angelone and partner Buddy deArmas, nephews David Shaw and wife Silvia, Leonard Angelone, Kenny Shaw, and Mark Angelone.
She is also survived by her grand nieces and nephews Alicea Najera, Annamarie Dober and husband Chuy, Vanessa Shaw, Jocelyn Flores and husband Yulman, Shelby Angelone, Kelli Gallagher and husband Sean, and Courtnee Angelone and husband Frank, Michael Najera and wife Missy, Alois Dober and partner Isabelle, David Shaw Jr., and A.J. Angelone. She lived long enough to enjoy many years with her great-grand-nieces and great-grand-nephews as well.
We will all miss her smile, her hugs, and her infectious laugh.
