October 7, 1935- February 17, 2018
After an extensive battle with cancer Henry Ernest Herman, age 82, passed away Saturday, February 17, 2018, in his home with his children by his side. He was a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and treasured friend to many. At an early age, he met and married the love of his life Mildred, and together they raised 8 children. Henry worked many long days to provide for his family.
Henry was devoted to family and many other things in life, including his Catholic faith which was instilled in all 8 children. Everyone was always welcome at the Herman home. He always made sure that no one ever left hungry or thirsty. He was known for his amazing cooking skills. This included family barbeques, his famous beef jerky, and Christmas meat balls, along with many other main courses. Henry made it very clear at all the family gatherings, how proud he was of all his children and always made comments “these are my people”.
He loved dancing to polka music, going to the deer lease to hunt and play poker with the guys. Another favorite past time was Henry’s trips to the Casino where he was the luckiest person on the trip and always won BIG! He was always eager to book the next casino trip.
Henry is preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Mildred and his son Dwayne. In addition, his parents Lillie and Ernest Herman, his twin sister Henrietta Hermes, Sister Evelyn Kefauver, and Brother Julius (Peanut) Herman.
He is survived by his seven children: Debbie Herman Madison and husband Eugene, Gary Herman and wife Sandra, Daughter in law Beth Herman, Stephen Herman and wife Eva, Darlene Clark and husband Charles, Mark Herman and wife Missy, Tim Herman, Laura Heaton and husband Alfred. He has 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. “Pa” as he was known loved each and every one of them dearly. He is also survived by 3 sisters, 1 brother and numerous nieces and nephews.
Henry always gave you good advice and was quick to guide you in the right direction. He was truly an amazing individual and will be greatly missed by all.
