Henry K. Lau, 56, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2013. He was born in Hong Kong and immigrated to California before settling in Houston. Henry received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the Univ. of Calif. and his Ph.D. from the Univ. of Minn. He spent his career at Shell, contributing to process control, chemical risk management and E&P software delivery, retiring as a manager after 27 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and watching the L.A. Lakers. Passionate about education, he enjoyed mentoring students and volunteering. Henry was preceded in death by father, Ng Kuen Lau, and mother, Tong Siu Lau. He is survived by wife, Teresa; daughters, Katharine and Kristen; son, Joseph; sisters, Colleen Lau and Emily Wong; brother-in-law, Frank Wong; nephews, Randy and Eric Wong, wife, Akemi; grand-niece, Emi Wong; many uncles, aunts and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Chinese Professional Club Scholarship Fund for the Henry Lau Memorial Scholarship, or a scholarship of your choice. Visitation is Saturday, May 18, 2013, at 10:30 a.m., with the service at 11 a.m., at Bethany United Methodist Church.
