On April 25, 1931, a precious jewel was born to the late Mr. Cal Hill and Mrs. Emily Zedd Hill; they named her Heny Bettie Hill. Heny was born and raised in Monroe, Louisiana along with her siblings. She enjoyed making preserves, homemade biscuits and syrup. Later in life, she met a handsome man named James Lee Jackson from Shreveport, Louisiana. To their union four beautiful children were born; two boys: James and Benji and two girls: Runetta and Emily. Leaving Monroe in 1969 and settling in Houston, Texas, she gained employment with Pilgrim Cleaners until 1976. Heny was later employed at Emerson Elementary School, where she was a cook. She remained there for 19 years until her retirement in 1996. After retirement, Heny still loved cooking her homemade biscuits and syrup, as well as her famous teacakes. Keeping her faith in God, she joined Faith City Church, where she was a member until her passing. She was the sweetest person you could ever have known; feeding anyone who asked and opening her home to everyone. She will truly be missed. Heny is preceded in death by both parents Mr. Cal Hill and Mrs. Emily Zedd Hill; brother Joe Hill, sister Lue Retter her aunts and uncles Willie Zedd Smith (Aunt Baby), Virgil Gardner, Richard Hill (Uncle Richard), Hattie and Hailey Hill; husband James Lee Jackson, Sr.; both sons Benji and James Lee Jackson, Jr.; daughter Emily Lee Jackson; grandson Arthur Ray Jackson. She leaves to cherish her beautiful memories: daughter Runetta Harris and of Houston, Texas; grandchildren Tashala R. Jackson and Quentin A. Jackson of Houston and a host of other friends.
